Beach shoes, aqua shoes, water shoes and swim shoes at The Beach Factory are different names for a lightweight shoe designed to be worn in the water.  For this reason beach shoes are made from waterproof materials and include a drainage system.  Our beach shoes have flexible neoprene uppers that stretch around the foot, soft nylon mesh to allow water to drain out and a non-marking plastic sole that doesn't damage boat decks.

Beach shoes protect the feet when exploring rocky shores and from hot sand and tiles or unseen hazards buried in the sand.  They are particularly useful when climbing in and out of small boats when the bottom is rocky or can't be seen, but they are also often used for walking to and from the beach and at the pool side. Some people use beach shoes for water aerobics but do check swimming pool rules concerning footwear before jumping in!

The insole is not usually fixed which allows sand and seaweed (or other organic matter that might smell) to be fully flushed out of the shoe after use. It's always a good idea to wash the shoe thoroughly in fresh water after use.  A beach shoe is not designed to be worn for walking long distances.

Unfortunately the weight of the shoes means that we can only deliver beach shoes that are ordered using standard postage to a UK address (although you are welcome to call us for a delivery quote to other locations).

Sizing

Beach shoes are sized like a trainer except that there isn't a ½ size. In that situation we advise going up to the next whole size. The beach shoes have an ankle drawstring that can be pulled as tight as needed to keep the shoe on while a toggle lock at the back of the ankle maintains the drawstring tension but also allows it to be released more easily when wet.
