Provides Extra Personal Password Security for Credit and Debit Card Payments

The Beach Factory uses 3D Secure to provide an extra security layer for online transactions. In simple terms 3D Secure requires you to authenticate online payments made through participating merchants (such as The Beach Factory) using a password that is chosen by you.

How does it work?

3D Secure is operated by MasterCard and Visa, for both credit and debit cards, via your card issuing bank and is becoming increasingly common. Once you have completed our checkout process and entered your card details the PROTX secure payment server will automatically divert you to a screen hosted by your card issuing bank. After entering the correct password your card issuing bank confirms the transaction within a few seconds.

If you have not previously initiated the 3D Secure process, you will instead be presented with the option to sign up then and there with a password and personal message, or to sign up later. We recommend adopting 3D Secure at the first opportunity because it gives you an extra level of security over the possible misuse of your card. Even if someone knows all your credit or debit card details, an online purchase cannot be completed without also knowing your password.

Passwords are not disclosed to the merchant, but the authenticated approval from a card issuing bank provides explicit evidence that the cardholder authorised the purchase. For this reason your password must be treated like your card's PIN and never be disclosed to anyone.
